Creative Uses For Decorative Papers
There are so many gorgeous decorative and artisan papers out there. Get some! Here are some things you can do with these lovely papers.
Letter Covering Tuck a handwritten letter into a folded piece of decorative paper. Secure the letter bundle with soft ribbon. A special touch.
Photograph Wrap For a creative way to present pictures, wrap photos loosely in delicate tissue paper, followed by a piece of Japanese Chiyogami paper. Choose paper to suit the mood of the pictures, or choose a piece at random.
Drawer Liner Place a piece of patterned paper inside the small drawer of an end-table or night-stand. When you open your drawer you’ll have a little splash of decor.
Table Top Design Have a table with a glass top? Sandwich a piece of paper between the surface of the table and the glass. A super simple way to liven up a room. Alternate the paper for season, theme, company, mood, or to complement throw pillows, furniture or other decor.
CD Jacket Stylize the presentation of your mixed cds with paper. Trim a piece of decorative paper to the size of a cd cover. Slide the paper into the front of the jewel case. Patterned paper adds visual oomph to your music collection.
Wall Hanging Patterned Japanese Katazome-shi and Chiyogami papers are fabulous for hanging on the wall as they are, or set in a frame.
Credit Card Sleeve Make a mini envelope for your credit cards. Tape the sides with transparent tape. You'll see a kimino inspired pattern when you open your wallet. A nice way to keep the magnetic strip on your cards fresh.
Mantle Display Trim your paper to the desired size, and place you'll favorite photos on it, or leave it as is. You can also overlap pieces of paper for variety.
Bookjacket Cut a piece of paper several inches longer than the size of the open book (novel, blank journal, daily reading, etc.) Tuck the end flaps inside the book cover. Works great with hardcover books.
Gift Sash Embellish a gift with a decorative paper sash for an alternative to traditional wrapping. Use strips of paper similar to the way you would use ribbon. Tape a band of paper around a gift box, belt a potted plant, or liven up an irregularly shaped gift with a fun sash.
Napkin Loop Use a paper loop in place of a napkin ring. Simply wrap the band around the center of the folded napkin several times. Back To Top
